Tough task for state eC in flood-affected areas

With Uttarakhand going to polls on May 7, the state election commission faces a big challenge to ensure that voting in areas affected by last year’s floods goes without a hitch and has embarked on a mammoth exercise for the same ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

‘Special arrangements have been made for polling booths in the flood-affected areas. Schools will be used for polling booths and additional manpower will be deployed in these areas,’ chief electoral officer Radha Raturi said. According to state election commission records, over 67,86,000 voters will exercise their franchise in over 10062 booths in the five constituencies in the state.
