Top health official has swine flu, recuperates at home

“The official noticed symptoms similar to swine flu soon after he returned from Gujarat visit. He has taken leave and keeping himself isolated at home. There is nothing to worry as the condition of the official is stable,” the health ministry source further said.

With swine flu death toll mounting by the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervened and summoned Health Minister JP Nadda to take stock of the ministry’s preparedness to tackle swine flu.

Rattled alarming death figures of 485 out of 6,298 cumulative cases in just six weeks of this year, the health ministry issued special directives to swine flu affected states. The instructions to states include increasing the testing centres and maintaining adequate supply of Tamiflu, the only medicine to treat H1N1 virus infected patients.
