There was no casualty reported in the incident. The Gurugram Police have launched a hunt for the commuter who had fired the shot.

Earlier in December too, a Gurugram Police official was shot at on the Gurugram-Faridabad Road. Following the incident there, has been a renewed demand to increase at the security presence at the area.

The culprit named Virendra who was a resident of Delhi was later held by the Gurugram Police. “There was a gunshot fired at the toll collector after a verbal duel between the two. The incident seems to have occurred at 10 pm on Monday night. We have launched the hunt and soon there will be an arrest,” said a senior Gurugram Police official.

“Though these are one off incidents, the police have taken cognisance of the incident. We already have patrolling barricades around the major junctions in the city for safety and security of the citizens,” the official added.

The incidents of violence are not new in the city. Recently, there was a physical assault on a toll professional at the Kherki Dhaula toll plaza.
