Toddler dies after overdose of injection

An eight-month-old girl died due to <g data-gr-id="15">heavy</g> overdose of an injection in East Delhi’s Vivek Vihar on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Akanksha. She was taken to Indira Gandhi ESI hospital in D-Block of Surajmal Vihar for a routine checkup.

Renu, a family member of the deceased said, “Akanksha’s mother, Aarti, took her for a routine checkup. The minor was suffering from loose motions and was taken to the OPD for a checkup where she was administered a heavy dose of the injection following which she died on the spot.”

She added: “Although another doctor present at the OPD informed that such heavy dose must not be given yet the doctor went ahead and administered such a heavy dose.”

The child’s mother was not available for comment who works at an Anganwadi and the father works at a private company.
