TMCP prez shown the door from Serampore college

Trinamool Congress Chatra Parishad (TMCP) president in Hooghly, Subhojit Shau, was removed from his post following the trouble that broke out at Serampore College few days ago.

Senior TMCP leaders had earlier warned all the party activists that the party will not tolerate any kind of malpractices by any of its supporters and strong action will be taken against those who will flout the party’s guidelines.

It may be mentioned that state TMCP President Jaya Dutta, few days ago, held meeting at various colleges in the city asking the party members to follow the set discipline. She also said that if any of her party members were found to have been involved in any sort of malpractices, action will be taken against them.

A clash broke out between the two factions within the party at Serampore College two days ago which did not go down well with the top party leaders. The trouble broke out between the two groups over the possession of the students’ union. As per the instructions of the state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, old elected members of the students’ union should continue till fresh election takes place. But some members of the TMCP were allegedly trying to take away the charge from the earlier members of the union. This had resulted in the conflict between the two groups.

According to a senior TMCP leader, those who will perform well will be rewarded by the party and action will be taken against those who will fail to check the party’s infighting and flout the party discipline.

It may be mentioned that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had given a strong message on various occasions over the same issue. She also laid great emphasis on maintaining the image of her party. Many of the senior party leaders believe that if such incidents can be dealt strongly by the party, the incidents of intra party clash would be ironed out.
