TMCP leader in North 24 Parganas brutally thrashed

A Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) leader was beaten up brutally at Gaighata of North 24
Parganas which spread tension in the area. He was critically injured and taken to Barasat district hospital. Police have started an investigation.

On Tuesday night, Mrityunjay Saha, a student of Gobardanga Hindu College was returning home when suddenly some bike-borne miscreants stopped him. They hit him with a wooden rod and he fell on the road. Soon after the incident, the miscreants fled.

Saha received heavy injuries in his head, waist and left leg and was taken to hospital by the locals. Local sources revealed that Saha’s popularity among the students may cause this attack on him.
He is one of the leading faces of TMCP in Bongaon and that’s why the miscreants may have targeted him.

TMCP state president Jaya Dutta rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night to introspect the situation. She met Saha and discussed the matter with other TMCP leaders there.

“TMCP workers have been attacked across the state in several incidents. We have complained about it to the local police authorities. In this incident, we have lodged an FIR with the Gaighata police station. We have demanded speedy investigation and arrest of the accused as soon as possible. Saha is an active worker. It was a deliberate attempt to hurt him,” Dutta alleged.

However, the doctors could not keep Saha out of danger. According to a Barasat district hospital source, his injury was really fatal, and bones of his legs were broken.
