TMC workers stage protest against RSP officer alleging corruption

Raising allegations of corruption against the panchayat pradhan of the RSP run Baruna Gram Panchayat in South Dinajpur, Trinamool Congress supporters staged a demonstration in front of the panchayat office demanding legal action against the panchayat pradhan. Hundreds of Trinamool Congress workers and supporters raised the issue and shouted slogans. They claimed that the panchayat pradhan Jayanti Mahato issued a cheque of Rs 3.25 lakh to buy pipes for improvement of sewage line. The money was given in two phases but there was no sign of work to start shortly. 

Trinamool Congress member of the panchayat samity, Manindranath Roy claimed that the money has been passed violating the model code of conduct of the election. “How can the money be passed when the election has already been declared?” he raised the question. He further alleged that the pipes have not reached the area where the work has already been undertaken despite the money being given on March 11.The Trinamool Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to the block development officer Md Jakaria in this connection. The administration is looking into the matter. The Trinamool Congress leaders demanded legal action against the panchayat pradhan if the model code of conduct is violated. Roy demanded exemplary punishment of all the persons involved in it. He also alleged that there are many other cases of corruption in the RSP led gram panchayat and demanded proper probe into all the cases of corruption.
