TMC worker’s body found on railway tracks

A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was killed and his body was left on railway tracks at Baruipur Krishnamohan Station on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the victim Dilip Naskar was a resident of Paschim Mondalpara in Baruipur. He was an active worker of the party and he was missing since Tuesday night.

Preliminary investigation revealed that he received a call in his cell phone an hour after he had left his home on Tuesday night. He used to run a small business and the caller posing as a client had assured him help to get some job that will help to grow his business. The victim was trapped when he went to the spot.

A police officer said there were several injury marks on his body which suggested that he was beaten up till he fell unconscious and his throat was slit to assure his death.

Later his body was dumped on the railway tracks. On Wednesday morning some local people saw his body and informed the police. His body has been sent for post-mortem.

The police, however, ruled out the possibility of Naskar’s death after being hit by a train. “Someone would have noticed it if Naskar was killed after being hit by a train. But we haven’t found anyone who had witnessed such incident. Even there was no information of any such incident with the Government Railway Police. They came to know about the matter from some passersby,” said a police officer.

The TMC candidate from Baruipur Paschim Assembly constituency Biman Banerjee alleged that CPI(M)-backed goons were behind the crime and they killed Naskar to terrorise the party workers.
