TMC workers attacked in Jamuria

Six persons, including a woman were shot at by some residents of the same village following a dispute over a property. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon at Hizalgara near Jamuria in Burdwan.

The injured persons include Trinamool Congress workers. Thus, some people from the area tried to give it the colour of a faction feud. But senior TMC leaders in the district claimed that the party was not at all involved in the clash and it was an outcome of internal trouble among the villages.

The TMC workers who were attacked worked in a local factory. They were attacked when they were returning from the factory after their day’s work. The situation turned worse when the TMC workers retaliated. The other section of the people started hurling bombs at the TMC workers. They even opened fire from their country-made guns.

People in the area started running for a safe shelter but before anyone could have managed to flee the area, the situation took a worse turn with six of them receiving bullet injuries. They were left writhing in pain for around half an hour on road as there was no one to take them to hospital till the police came.

Police went to the spot and chased the people by raising their lathis to disperse the mob. The police took the injured people to Bahadurpur Health Centre. Some of the villagers were detained.
