TMC moves against Anisur Rahman

The Trinamool Congress brought a privilege motion against Anisur Rahman, the CPI-M’s deputy leader in the West Bengal assembly, for allegedly making derogatory remarks against CM Mamata Banerjee.

‘The disgraceful language which Rahman used against Banerjee, a woman, and her cabinet colleagues, is becoming a dangerous trend,’ state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee said at the Assembly. He was referring to unsavoury language allegedly used by Rahman at a public meeting on Friday.’It is becoming very difficult to stop Rahman from the competition of spreading canards and using filthy language that CPI(M) is practising in its politics,’ he charged.

Rahman, a former Left Front minister, had earlier also made derogatory comments against Banerjee and then apologised. The privilege notice, under Assembly Rule 226, has been brought on behalf of all TMC members, Chatterjee said.
