TMC MLA accuses Mukul of grave charges

Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) Manipur MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar, in a letter to Derek O’Brien, has charged Mukul Roy, TMC’s founding secretary and now a rebel, of coaxing four suspended party MLAs in the Manipur Assembly to join the BJP. However, Roy has denied the charges.
With Mamata Banerjee asking O’Brien to prepare a dossier on Roy’s recent statements, deviating from the party line, the letter will come in handy. O’Brien, who will submit a report to the TMC disciplinary committee by April-end, said on Friday that Roy won’t be given any assignment in the upcoming civic polls.
Something like this was brewing ever since TMC stripped Roy of party posts.
TMC suspended the four MLAs immediately after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls after an internal inquiry suggested they didn’t actively resist BJP’s inroads in their constituencies.
