Miscreants stormed the house of Seikh Khilafat in Barah village and abducted him on gunpoint. When his family members tried to raise an alarm they threatened them with dire consequences. The culprits took Khilafat a few kilometers away from the house, shot him twice in the chest and dumped his body near a railway track. His body was later found by villagers.
Police later reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The locals had protested in front of the police, but retreated soon after they were assured of prompt action against the culprits. Police suspect that the murder might have been the result of a fall out between two rival business groups.
