TMC block president’s wife attacked with acid

The wife of a Trinamool Congress’s block president was attacked with acid by goons on Saturday night at Shantinagar in North 24-Parganas. Police suspect that this could be a result of a fall-out between two groups in the area. Local people said that there was a rivalry between two groups within the party since a very long time over the possession of a land at Shantinagar village in Titagarh.

On Saturday night, a few local youth reached the block president’s house to find him. But he was not at home. In a fit of rage, the goons allegedly threw acid on his wife.

Police said that miscreants came to the house of the TMC’s block president on Saturday night and wanted to settle the dispute over the land. At that time an altercation took place between the accused and the TMC leader.

Due to that fight the miscreants had hurled acid on her. She was seriously injured in the incident. The seriously injured wife was admitted to the B.N. Basu hospital. The doctors have stated that several portions of her body, including her face got burnt due to acid.

The victim’s family members have lodged a complaint at the Titagarh Police Station but the police are yet to arrest anybody in this connection so far. The accused who had attacked TMC leader’s wife are still at large. The police are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
