TMC activist in Kalyani shot at by miscreants

Some miscreants shot at a Trinamool Congress activist at Kalyani, Nadia District on Sunday night. The incident took place when bike-borne gunmen shot him thrice and sped off from the spot at ward number 13 of Kalyani Municipality.

Ardhendu Shekhar Paul, a TMC leader popularly known as Bhola, was admitted in JNM hospital in a critical condition. The surgery, though, underwent successfully according to the hospital authorities.
The initial investigation reveals that some local anti-socials may be involved in the case.

Paul, the convener of the party in his area is a popular fellow among the residents.

“It is really shocking. We have heard Pal, who is a vibrant leader was shot. We will request the police to take stringent steps against the offenders,” a local resident said.

The hospital authorities, however, revealed that one bullet grazed past Paul’s chest. He also received bullet in his belly and shoulder.

The Trinamool Congress leadership at Kalyani strongly criticized the incident and requested the police to expedite the probe.

“He is involved in the development of local hospitals. No anti-social can stop the development work in Kalyani by creating such scary incidents,” said some of his party colleagues.

However, the police have started raiding to book the criminals involved in the shootout.

“Paul was shot at his locality. He was standing at the roadside when miscreants shot him there. The local Trinamool Congress supporters rushed him to the hospital,” a supporter said.

Meanwhile, supporters gathered in front of the emergency department of the hospital at Kalyani JNM hospital while Paul was undergoing the surgery.
