Tihar launches ‘From Crime to Spirituality’, to reform inmates
Tihar Jail authorities have started a new initiative called ‘From Crime to Spirituality’ from July 15. In this initiative, yoga guru Harshanadji Maharaj of Yoga Darshan Parmarthik trust is conducting daily yoga and motivational workshops with young inmates of Central Jail No 07.

The objective of the workshop is to bring positive thinking in the young inmates towards society. Yoga and meditation will help them maintain a balance between their body, soul and thinking. The initiative is receiving positive responses from the inmates who have taken an oath to become responsible citizen of society.

The workshop will also provide a platform of employment through skill development, so that they find their livelihood after their release from the prison.

The Tihar administration had also, in association with Parivartan Sandesh Foundation, an NGO, organised a painting competition for the kids of women inmates of Central Jail No 06 on July 15. The winners were given special gifts.

In a statement, the administration said that there are presently 33 children of the age group between one and six years of the female inmates residing in the day care baby crèche of Central Jail No 6.
Nisha Vats, the process head of the NGO, informed that it was an initiative to bring happiness to these kids.
