Three try to plant bomb outside Ram Singh’s house

The seething public is giving vent to its frustration in many ways. Recently in south Delhi, three people approached the residence of Ram Singh, the main accused in the Delhi gang rape case, with a hand-made explosive. Fortunately, the anti-bomb squad reached the spot on time, but an official was injured while defusing the bomb.

An anonymous caller told police that some unknown assailants had approached the residence of Ram Singh at Sector 3, R K Puram, in south Delhi, to avenge the 23-year-old physiotherapist’s death.

When the local police reached the JJ area of Ram Das Colony, where Singh along with his brother Mukesh used to reside, they found three men with suspicious material roaming around the house. The team tried to nab them but failed. They, however, managed to detain one of them.

‘The detained accused, who is in his early twenties, is a student. He was nabbed with a hand-made explosive. He had asked one of Ram Singh’s neighbour about his house, claiming he had a parcel for the accused. We are interrogating him. So far, he has told us that he wanted to kill Ram Singh,’ a source investigating the matter said.

Meanwhile, the official was rushed to Safdarjung hospital. Doctors said he is critically burnt and is undergoing treatment.
