Three TMC workers killed in two separate incidents

Three Trinamool Congress workers were killed in two separate incidents in South 24-Parganas and East Midnapore on Wednesday. Abdul Jahel Mondol, a Trinamool Congress activist from Kakdwip in South 24-Parganas was returning home from a party meeting on Wednesday morning when some miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons and injured him. The local people rushed to the spot and took him to a nearby hospital where the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The district Trinamool Congress leaders have alleged that some CPI (M) backed goons conspired in killing their party worker to weaken the organisation. The CPI(M) leaders, however, denied the allegation saying this as a result of their intra party feud.

In another incident, two Trinamool Congress workers were killed when miscreants hurled bombs at their houses at Katwa in Burdwan on Tuesday night. They were declared dead after being taken to the hospital. Police said that the victims were involved in a quarrel with some other people over the distribution of laborers for constructing a river bank. According to the initial investigation police suspect that this could be the result of the fallout.

Police said that Bapi Majhi and Mehboob Seikh were sitting outside the house when some miscreants hurled bombs on them. The two had received severe splinter injuries and were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed to the injuries on Wednesday morning. In a separate incident, on Tuesday night at Chandipur village in East Midnapore, some miscreants had set the houses of two Trinamool Congress workers on fire after ransacking them.

The house of a Trinamool Congress worker was set on fire at Tomluk in East Midnapore. On the basis of the complaint police have started an investigation. Police said that some goons had led an attack on the house of local TMC leaders Gurupada Maity and Rabin Maity. They damaged a portion of the house and later set it on fire.
