Three of family found dead in Burdwan’s Mongalkote area

Police recovered bodies of three persons from the same family at Burdwan’s Mongalkote on Friday morning.

The owner of the house, Sujal Baran Nag, a 55-year-old person was found hanging from the ceiling fan. His wife, Manimala (50) was seen lying on the floor along with his daughter, 22-year-old Sudarshana.

The investigators still do not have any headway about the case.

“It looks like Sujal killed his wife and daughter and then committed suicide.

But we cannot confirm it. We will wait for the autopsy report,” said an investigating officer.

Shockingly, this incident is a grim reminder of an almost similar murder that took place at Baranagar a few weeks ago.

In the Baranagar case, a trader hacked his wife to death and ruthlessly injured her daughter with the dagger. But his injured daughter stabbed him back, before he could escape from there.

The incident shell-shocked the neighbours, as they called up the cops from Baranagar police station.

Meanwhile, the investigators brought sniffer dogs in the spot at Mongalkote.

“The head of the family, Sujal Baran was the owner of a sweet shop. He came to his house late on Thursday night,” said the investigating officer.

“The neighbours broke the gate and saw the bodies on Friday morning. The neighbours called us at the police station’s number,” the officer added.

“They were a happy family. But recently, Sujal and Manimala were seen quarrelling. Sujal told that they were depressed over their daughter’s marriage. Several marriage proposals were turned down, which made the couple unhappy and concerned,” a neighbour said.

“Sujal took knife to slit the throats of his wife and daughter. He then hanged himself from the ceiling fan. He took nylon thread from the kitchen. Then he fixed it with fan before hanging himself,” said
the officer.
