Three of a family killed, three injured in accident on Yamuna Expressway

Three members of a family were killed in a gruesome accident that took  place on the Yamuna Expressway on Thursday night, while three other members are struggling for their lives in a hospital in Greater Noida. The family was returning from their village in the Mainpuri district  when the  accident
took place.  

The accident occurred at the 20-mile point on the Yamuna Expressway when a truck driver suddenly applied the brakes of his vehicle, as a result of which the i10 car in which the family was travelling rammed into the truck. Padma Verma (50), his wife Pushpa (45) and sister Neelam Soni (42) died on the spot. The bodies were so badly stuck inside the car that the rescue team had to use rods to deflate it to recover the bodies.

According to police, the accident took  at around 11.45 pm.
The three injured persons, Pushpa's daughter Aishwarya (22), son Shobhit (20) and his cousin Rajat (22), were rushed to  the Kailash Hospital in
Greater Noida.

'They have been critically injured, but are out of danger,' said a spokesperson of Kailash Hospital.
The Verma family are residents of the Krishna Nagar   area of east Delhi and the Soni family had come from Mumbai to visit them. 'We have registered a case. The truck driver managed to flee,' said a senior cop.
