Three killed, two injured in road accidents

Three people were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in Bankura and North 24-Parganas on Sunday. Police said the incident took place when three people on a motorbike collided with a truck which was coming from the opposite direction. The trio was returning from a cattle market at Kotalpur and the accident took place at the intersection of two roads. 

A truck loaded with sand hit the motorbike when it suddenly came in front of it. The truck was heading towards Bishnupur. Local people took all the victims to Kotalpur Rural Hospital where the rider of the two-wheeler Amit Purahit (45) was declared brought dead. The pillion riders Subal Bagh (39) and Tanmoy Purahit were admitted. Subal later succumbed to his injuries. 

Tanmoy was shifted to a private hospital with severe injuries all over his body and he is still fighting for his life. 

Local people told to the police that rash driving had led to the accident. At the same time the local people urged the police to post at least a policeman to maintain the movement of vehicles at the intersection. 

In another incident, a 28-year-old youth Md Firoz was killed and his friend was injured when their motorbike hit a road side railing at Barrackpore Talpukur crossing at Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas on Sunday. 

Police said the two-wheeler was at a high speed and the rider of the bike had failed to control it while taking a sharp turn. Firoz was decalred brought dead when taken to hospital while his friend Rakesh Shaw was admitted with severe injuries.
