Three killed in road accidents

Three people were killed in separate accidents in the capital within the last 24 hours.

In the first incident, a 21-year-old man was hit by a speeding low floor DTC bus near Lajpat Nagar area in south Delhi. The victim lost his life.

'The deceased was identfied as Vijay Chaudhary, a resident of B Block, MCD Flat in Sriniwaspuri area. He worked at hotel Hyatt in south Delhi. The incident took place at round 7.30 am when he was going on his motorbike,' said a police official.

A DTC bus hit him from behind and crushed him. He was rushed to the AIIMS hospital where he was declared brought dead', he added.

Chaudhary's was on his way to the hotel. The DTC bus driver, identified as Rakesh, was later arrested for rash driving and negligence causing death, the official added. Chaudhary had recently joined the five-star hotel after completing his hotel management course from a private institute.

In the second incident, a 25-year-old Vijay, a driver of a truck, was killed when he lost control of the truck and rammed into a tree.

The incident took place in Pandav Nagar area of east Delhi in the wee hours of Saturday.

'When Vijay saw a pothole near the area where the incident occurred, he tried to swerve the truck to avoid it, but lost control. The truck hit the divider first and then rammed into a tree. He was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared dead. Two other passersby were also injured,' said a police official.

In the third accident, a 35-year-old home guard lost his life in Multan Nagar area of west Delhi.

His colleague was also injured during the accident. The deceased was identified as Vinay Kumar, a resident of B Block in Sultanpuri.

The person who was injured was identified as Maheshwar (27) a fellow home guard and neighbour.

'The victims were on their motorbike when an unknown vehicle hit them from behind. Both were returning home from Kamla Nagar police station,' said the police official.
