Three killed, four injured in two separate incidents

Three persons including a woman were killed and four injured in two separate accidents in Howrah and Nadia on Tuesday morning.  Police said a private car that was coming from Nachinda in East Midnapore hit a truck that was being stopped by the police to check its documents near Kulgachia on National Highway-6. Sources said that there were three persons including the driver in the car. 
They were heading to the Kolkata airport.  

Samiran Pal, a witness to the accident, said that driver of the car had failed to control the speeding car and hit the back of the truck when it was suddenly stopped on the road after being asked by the police.

Three persons including the victim Amala Singha (65) were taken to the hospital. Singha was declared brought dead and two others including another woman were admitted with severe injuries.  

The incident led to tension in the area as local people staged a road block protesting against the incident. Some of them even started pelting stones at the police. Seeing the situation going out of control, RAF and Combat Force was deployed. 

The police chased the mob by raising lathis and dispersed the mob. The one and a -half -hour long road block led to massive traffic congestion on the national highway. Senior police officers intervened and cleared the traffic congestion.   

In another road accident at Nakashipara in Nadia, two youths – Omar Ali Sheikh (25) and Abdul Sheikh (30) – were killed after being hit by a mini-truck on National Highway 34.
