Three injured in road mishap at Phoolbagan

Three youth were critically injured when their car hit a road side railing in a bid to save a school goer, who was crossing the road, at Phoolbagan crossing on Wednesday morning.

Police said that the youth were taking a driving lesson as traffic is comparatively lesser in early morning. They were heading towards Sealdah from Beliaghata.

Investigation revealed that they had started their journey from Beliaghata Main Road. But the situation turned worse when the driver of the car suddenly found a school goer crossing the road.

Being inexperienced, he failed to control the vehicle and hit a road side railing. The youth later told the police that they hit the railing to save the school goer.

If they would not have moved towards the railing then the car would have hit the boy.
The local people rushed to the spot hearing the loud sound and found the youth stuck inside the car. The entire car was damaged.

The local people managed to bring two youth out of the car. But the youth who was driving the car got stuck.

Officers of the disaster management group of the Kolkata Police rushed to the spot and cut open a portion of the car using electric cutter to bring the youth out of the car.

They took him to the hospital where he was admitted with severe injuries.Police said that he received injuries on his legs, chest and head. Sources said that the senior officers of the city traffic police directed all its traffic guards to intensify vigil to avoid learners’ motor car driving on major thoroughfares.
