Three including woman arrested for honey trapping

Delhi Police arrested three persons including a woman who were wanted in a honey trap case at Outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar area. According to the police, two of the accused are ex-employees of Delhi Home Guard. The accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar Pal and Sitaram, police said on Tuesday.

Police said that they received a complaint on May 29 from a man at the Vijay Vihar police station that a group of men have been allegedly trying to extort money from him on the pretext of implicating him in a false rape case.

A senior police official said that Sunil Kumar Pal, the kingpin of the gang, used to allegedly lure innocent men through advertisements in a newspaper, where they were asked to meet a woman on a date.

“Once the victim reached the place, Sunil and his accomplices, disguised as Crime Branch and Officials of the Delhi Home Guard would allegedly enter the place. Finding the victim in a compromising position with the woman, they threatened the victim to pay them money or they will register a false rape or molestation case,” said an investigating official.

In the case registered with the Vijay Vihar police station, the accused had demanded to be paid Rs one lakh. Police said that through a honey trap, they managed to identify and detain the accomplices of Sunil.

However, Pal kept evading arrest.

The official said: “On the day Pal was arrested, he was wearing the uniform of the Delhi Home Guard. Prior to this incident, he used to work as a Home Guard in the jurisdiction of the Sultanpuri police station. Our police team from the Maurya Enclave police station traced him after they received a tip-off and arrested him.”

Police said that they have registered a case under Sections 384, 388, 120B and 34 of the IPC at the Vijay Vihar police station. Further investigation in the matter is still on.
