Three including two Nigerians arrested for drug peddling

Crime Branch arrested three persons including two Nigerian Nationals and busted an interstate gang of drug peddlers who were arrested from different parts of the national Capital. According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Israel Echem (32), Darlington Chiemezie (30) and Md Dhobir (25).

Police said that they recovered 430 gm of fine quality heroin (smack) and 105 gm of fine quality cocaine from their possessions in three separate incidents. Total Rs 70 lakh-worth fine quality heroin and cocaine has been seized from their possession.

According to a senior police officer: “We received a tip-off that one Darlington Chiemezie, a Nigerian national, who is living at South Delhi’s Mehrauli area will be going near Chattarpur CNG station along with 104 gm of cocaine on October 26. Moreover, we were already keeping a tab on him due to reports on his drug trafficking activities. Therefore, he was caught by our team near Chattarpur CNG station along with 104 gm of cocaine.”

During investigation, cops found that Darlington was in India for the second time for drug trafficking activities on the direction of his fellow countryman Tony. He recently procured drugs from another Nigerian, Cheema, for supply at RK Puram, Mehrauli and other adjoining areas in South Delhi.

The senior police official further said that based on the instance of Echem, Dhobir, a Nizamuddin resident, was caught near the railway bridge on the Bhairon Road, while going to deliver drugs to a contact on October 26. Heroin weighing 170 gm was recovered from his possession.

On October 25, another Nigerian national Israel Echem, was caught by a Crime Branch team based on a tip-off, near Outer Ring Road, Tilak Nagar Mod, and heroin weighing 260 gm was recovered from him, police said on Saturday.
