Three held for Malda triple murder

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained three persons in connection with the murder of a businessman, his wife and domestic help in Malda on Friday. Sources said the detained were close associates of the slain businessman.

Ramratan Agarwal (60), his wife Manju and their domestic help Ganesh were stabbed to death inside their house at Vivekanandapalli in Malda Town in the wee hours on Friday. The incident created panic in the area.

Local people and members of the local business association had blocked the road and gheraoed the superintendent of police (SP) Arnab Ghosh on Friday. The investigators came to learn that the assailants reached the Agarwal residence with the sole intention of killing the businessman.

“It was a clear case of murder. It was planned and the plan was well executed,” said an officer.
The state government had ordered a probe on Friday monitored by the CID. Ramratan Agarwal, the owner of some brick kilns in Maldam was popular among the traders fraternity.
