Three foreign nationals held for drug trafficking

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) nabbed three foreign nationals and recovered drugs pseudo-ephedrine and methaqulane at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday.

Around 2.35 am, a Zimbabwe national came at gate no 3 of Terminal-3 to gain access into the building.

‘On checking his ticket and passport, he was identified as Karimazondo Mike, 35, travelling to Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi by an Etihad Airlines’ flight,  which was scheduled at 4.20 am,’ said a police official.

He was selected for thorough checking as his appearance appeared to be suspicious. On screening, as much as 25.7 kg of methaqulane was recovered from his luggage.

His two other co-passengers, Ncube Ellah, 45, and Khumalo Shila, 41, were also detained on strong suspicion.

‘Both the women had completed their check-in formalities. On physical checking of their registered bags, 65 kg of pseudo ephedrine was recovered. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials were informed and they immediately arrived at the airport. They confirmed the identity of these drugs,’ said Hemendra Singh, CISF spokesperson.

The value of the recovered  methaqulane is Rs 20.56 lakh in Indian market and Rs 1.23 crore in international market. The  recovered pseudo ephedrine was worth Rs 39 lakh in Indian market and Rs 2.34 crore in international market.
