Three engineers swept away in Himachal

 Three power engineers working at Rong Tong project in remote Spiti valley, were washed away in gushing waters as pipe near penstock suddenly burst. The accident took place on Sunday night when the testing of two units of the project was underway after renovation. 

The units were closed for renovation for past two months and scheduled to start power generation after testing, JP <g data-gr-id="15">Kalta</g>, Member state Electricity Board said.

HPSEB Engineers?Vijay Kumar (25) and Sanjay Kumar (37), both from district Mandi?and?Danishsaise (28) from MM Engineers, a Delhi-based private company, who were at work were swept away and died. Chief Engineer (Generation), BM Sood, who was on his way to the project, reached the site after the mishap. The HPSEB has announced immediate relief of Rs 1 lakh each to the next of kin of the victims.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Power Minister Sujan Singh Pathania have expressed grief over the incident.
