Three crushed to death in Capital

Three persons were killed in separate accidents in the capital on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. In one case, a UP Roadways bus crushed a man while in the other incident, a bike along with the rider was crushed by a truck. In the third case, a truck hit a person in west Delhi.

The first incident took place at Anand Vihar border where Khalid, the deceased, was killed by a UP Roadways bus. He was a resident of Bareilly. He lived with his father and a brother and sister. On Saturday night, Khalid was returning home in a bus that is from Delhi to Bareilly. Meanwhile, when the bus stopped, he got off the bus to urinate. When he turned to go back to the bus, another speeding bus ran over him.

'He was taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. A case against the driver of the UP Roadways bus have been registered for rash driving and negligence causing death,' said a police official.

In the second incident, T P Sharma was riding on his bike in Anand Vihar, when a truck rammed into him from behind, crushing him along with his bike. 'We found that Sharma and his bike under the tyres of the truck. He had to be prised out and was taken to Hedgewar hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,' said the official.

In the third incident, Satish Kumar, 50, who was an ayurvedic doctor, was also crushed by a truck in Shailmar Garden on Saturday evening. He was on his motorcycle en route Swaroop Nagar, when a truck hit him from behind and killed him.


JOURNALIST HURT IN MISHAP

A journalist was injured when a speeding SUV hit him in south Delhi and left him bleeding on the roads in the dark hours, police said on Sunday. The incident took place early Saturday morning and the victim has been identified as Jehangir Ali of Asian Age. The journalist was on his way to Chirag Delhi when the SUV hit him. The driver of the SUV fled the scene soon after the accident. However, a group of youngsters who were passing by spotted Ali on the road and took him to AIIMS Trauma Centre. The youngsters also managed to take down the number of the fleeing SUV following which police managed to track down Sunil, who was arrested later under charges of rash and negligent driving. Ali broke his right arm in the incident.
