Hazirul Bibi, a resident of Chandmala village first heard the cries of the babies and informed the matter to the other villagers.
Police said that out of three babies, two are girls and the other is a boy. They have been admitted to a government hospital at Diamond Harbour. Police are investigating if the babies were a part of trafficking racket.
Police are also trying to ascertain the identity of the babies.
A senior police officer in the district said: “A probe has been initiated in this regard. We are looking into whether these babies were kept for trafficking to other states. We are trying to identify the babies. We are also conducting a probe to find out the people who had dumped the babies in the bush.”

The babies are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. According to the hospital sources, the condition of all the babies is stated to be stable now.
