Three arrested for duping 200 people of Rs 10 crore through fake real estate firm

The police on Thursday claimed to have arrested three directors of a fake real estate company for duping around 200 investors of around Rs 10 crore.
The company promised people flats in Sonipat, Haryana with a club, swimming pool and other facilities without having any licence or permission from the government authorities. The three men who posed as directors of Jindal Realcon Pvt. Ltd — Ajay Kumar Singhal (49), Pankaj Kapoor (49), Manoj Kumar Goyal (43), — were arrested on 10 July, according to the police.

A police officer said, ‘The accused persons who had no previous experience of construction business started functioning from a rented premises on the 13th floor of Bigjos Tower in Pitam Pura, Delhi in December 2005. They cheated the public at large by offering lucrative schemes on the pretext of developing a township in the name of “Jindal Green” in Sonipat, Haryana.’

The accused started collecting money from people in February 2006 on the false assurances.
According to the police, the accused persons closed down their offices and were not traceable at their registered addresses.
They had promised to handover the flats to the owners within three years of the receipt of payment but till date no construction at the site has started.
