Sharma’s brother-in-law, Videsh Kumar, was arrested for his alleged involvement in plotting Sharma’s fake death and murdering a mentally unstable man in May this year. He has been absconding since then. Police have also booked Chandra Mohan Sharma and his female friend
Preeti Nagar in this connection.

Brajesh Kumar Singh, Superintending of Police (Rural) in Greater Noida said Videsh was arrested from Alfa Commercial Belt of the city. ‘We had information about his presence in the area, following which a raid was conducted. Notably, this is the third arrest in the sensational case in which a charred body (believed to be of Sharma’s) was found in his car. Following, the incident, his family alleged Sharma was killed by land mafia and accused five persons of Kasna area.

However, the mystery started to unfold when Sharma was spotted with his female friend, in Banglore in August.  Later, the police nabbed both of them from Banglore.  After taking Sharma’s custody for faking his own death and murdering a mentally unstable man, police had also arrested a 25-year-old woman with whom he had been living in Bangalore.

The woman, Preeti Nagar, a resident of Alpha-II in Greater Noida, was charged under sections 120B and 202 of the Indian Penal Code for criminal conspiracy and intentionally omitting to give information about the offence committed by Chandra Mohan.
