Theft at Anna's house in Noida

Team Anna has lodged a complaint to police about a theft in the house in Noida in which Anna Hazare used to stay during his visit in Delhi.

In its police complaint lodged at the Sector 39 police station, the caretaker of the house, Ram Kumar Jha, has mentioned three things stolen from there – a gas cylinder, an inverter and a battery of the inverter.

But the caretaker was not sure when the incident place. It was only on Saturday morning, when Shashi Bhushan visited the house that the theft was discovered.

'The windows were broken and these three items were stolen from the house. Thieves have entered in the house from backside,' said Vaibhav, spokesperson of Team Anna. The house is situated in Sector 43 and belongs to Prashant Bhushan's brother Jayant Bhushan.

'I have also written an email to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Noida, in this regard and waiting for his reply,' said Shashi Bhushan, eminent lawyer and member of team Anna. Bhushan, however, held that no documents were missing. 'We don't keep any important documents here. The house is only used by Anna when he comes on his visits to Delhi,' added Bhushan.

Bhushan has himself written the police complaint about the theft, which was submitted to police on Saturday afternoon. The insiders of the house claim that some documents were either stolen or photocopied as they seem disturbed.

Noida SSP, Praveen Kumar, however, denied receiving any email from Bhushan. 'I did not receive any email from Bhushan so far,' said Praveen Kumar, SSP Noida. 'We have registered the case and are investigating into the matter,' added Kumar.

This is the same house where team Anna had a crucial meeting on 22 April to decide future course of action during which Mufti Shamoon Kashmi left the meeting in middle alleging bias and 'not being heard'. The team, however, had maintained that he was making clippings of the meeting and sending it outside so was debarred by Shashi Bhushan and other members.
