The way into nature

The first day of the festival saw a large number of visitors pouring in with huge excitement. This year’s theme for the festival was Landscaping with Hanging Plants. One drew inspiration from the innovative opportunities provided at the festival to create a garden of one’s own dreams.

Delhi Tourism has been organising this festival in association with Government of Delhi from past 27 years and drawing different yet unique themes each time. The festival brought numerous types of hanging plants that gave innovative answer to Delhi’s growing sound and air pollution.

A painting competition was held at the festival where children from various school in junior and
senior category were invited to showcase their talent. This will be followed by a magic show. Further, cultural performances by academies like Sahitya Kala Parishad, Hindi Academy and Punjabi Academy captivated the visitors.

This three-day event had numerous nurseries showcasing their collection. Sapling, plants and trees are put for display and sale. Manish Sehgal from one of such nursery says, “We come to this festival for publicity. According to me Green Walls or Bio-Walls are the next upcoming thing in the industry. These are special wall structures, where plants can easily grow with added irrigation and sprinkling system.”

Garden Tourism Festival is usually held every year in the month of February for a fixed number of days. It draws unique yet distinct theme each time.
