The new prince of fashion

When a royal puts on a dress, he isn't just wearing a garment, he is cementing a fashion moment in history. Whether the noble is attending an event or exchanging wedding vows in front of millions of people, the world waits with bated breath to see the dress he'll choose for the occasion. And well well, the good news is that the designer who is about to take charge of designing for one such royal family and mark his name in the fashion books of history belongs to our very own country. Manish Tripathi, a Delhi-based designer, is set to launch his couture store in Doha and design exclusively for the royal family of Qatar.

The designer, who recently completed a Bollywood movie project, has now shifted his focus on styling the royals of Qatar. Talking about this ambitious project, he says, ‘I have entered into a joint venture partnership to design only for the royal families, the VVIPs in Qatar and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and other gulf countries.’

When asked how it feels to be a part of such a great event, he humbly replies, ‘It's a favourable change. I have always tried to showcase Indian designs at various national and international forums with an intention to boost Indian crafts and the craftsmens' karigari’.

‘The designs will be crafted in a very unique style for Qatar’s Thani family. The raw materials will be sourced from different parts of the world. I will be weaving our very own textile to ensure exclusivity. I will also be travelling worldwide to procure the best of the fabrics from across the globe. I will be using genuine gold trims and its application to accentuate some special outfits. Every piece made for the family would be a piece of art,’ he adds.

Manish, who launched his menswear brand antarDESI just two years back is now excited to go ahead with this ambitious plan. ‘It is not so easy to create individual pieces for individual preferences, but as a designer this is what challenges me,’ says the talented man.

Tripathi is going on an expansion spree, taking his couture creations to eager souls across the world. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he has made commendable efforts in bringing Indian fashion in the limelight globally. ‘Our country is embedded with so much richness that nobody can avoid falling in love with it’, says the excited Manish.
