The joy of learning

The Capital is going to witness an  evening of melodious renditions by Santoor maestro and music composer Abhay Rustam Sopori. India Habitat Centre in collaboration with Siet and Sakhsi presents this analytical santoor concert. The concert is a part of Sound of Music – an introduction to musical instruments of India which is a workshop on recognition, cognition and appreciation of instrumental music with eminent and world acclaimed musicians.  The event will also feature a discussion about the Indian classical music and musical scenario with known musicologists Shubhra Mazumdar, Manjari Sinha, Ravindra Mishra and Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra.

The show aims to create awareness and to bring back the charisma of Indian classical music among the educated, urban middle class youth, who know very little about the depths and intricacies of Indian classical music or the instruments used therein. Also it tries to provide the artistes a broader visibility and opportunity to be acclaimed by the many who have not had an easy opportunity to enjoy such arts. It tries to make the public aware of the eminence and skill of these artistes and also to ensure that no art lover can miss the opportunity to learn from the nuances of music from the best in the field.

When: 30 June  Where: Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre Timing: 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm
