The India Story exhibition to showcase art, design from Oct 29

Around 100 artists from India will showcase the best of art and design practices at The India Story exhibition here beginning on October 29, organisers said on Monday.

From displaying the merger of French aesthetics with Indian craftsmanship, the revival of dying weaving styles from Varanasi to pop-up restaurants, the four-day event will connect the city with artists and craftsmen from across India. 

Curated by scenographer Swapan Dutta and Nil of designer duo ‘Dev r Nil’, the exposition is an Ambuja Neotia initiative to celebrate the spirit of India through lifestyle and art. 

In addition to textiles, the exhibition will also highlight exclusive handmade ornaments, herbal personal care products as well as modern furniture concepts using indigenous and repurposed materials.

Workshops with designers, artists and craftsmen on various design practices, panel discussions with leading designers, retailers, architects, on contemporary Indian design landscape will set the tone for an enthralling dialogue on art and design.

To be held at the Swabhumi Heritage Plaza, the unique event will host well-known names like Wendell Rodricks, Anamika Khanna, Ritu Kumar, Lekha Washington, Sayantan Sarkar and Italian designer Matteo Cibic. 

From West Bengal, a clutch of artists and designers like Narayan Chandra Sinha, Lipi Biswas and Baishakhi Ghosh will present their creations.
