Thackeray cousins unite in hour of need

Estranged Thackeray cousins Uddhav and Raj seem to be inching towards a patch up. On Monday, Uddhav Thackeray was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He had complained of chest pain. Soon, the cousin Raj was by his side.

Uddhav, the older of the two power centres of the Maharashtra politics, recently returned from a foreign trip and complained of ill health. He chose to go for a routine health check up at the Mumbai hospital. He was taken to the ICCU and was accompanied by the Thackeray family doctor.

Uddhav, 52, took charge of the Shiv Sena in 2004, after his father Bal Thackeray chose him over Raj. This led to acrimony between the two young guns. After years of keeping away from each other, Raj came to pick Uddhav up from the hospital, indicating which way the Marathi manush politics of the state may move in the coming days.
