Tension at Hooghly Women’s College

Tension broke out at Hooghly Women’s College on Thursday morning after the governing body was dissolved.

A section of students gheraoed the principal protesting against the move of dissolving the governing body.

The principal informed the matter to the police and sought their help to maintain law and order in the college.

Such incidents have been taking place in the college for the past one and a half year.

Such incidents were hampering the normal functioning of the college and affecting the students.

Sources said that the governing body was dissolved due to the constant trouble going on in the college. The trouble began soon after the governing body was dissolved on Wednesday and it continued on Thursday affecting the studies in the college for the two days. 

Though the police intervened and brought the principal from midst of the students. But they claimed that the agitation would continue against the move of dissolving the governing body.

However, the college authorities are taking steps to restore normalcy so that the studies can be carried out properly and students do not get affected unnecessarily.
