Teachers’ Day special: Nigam Awards conferred on 91 teachers

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi — South, North and East — conferred Nigam Awards to their teachers. A total of 91 teachers were given award by the three Corporation in separate functions on Monday. South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) facilitated its 35 teachers, North MCD facilitated 38 and the EDMC facilitated 18 teachers.  

Participating in an event, SDMC Mayor Shyam Sharma said that the Corporation is concentrating on improving quality of education in its schools wherein 6,900 students are being imparted education. He added that the Education Department must imbibe education on cleanliness, yoga and plantation in a systematic manner on alternate days at least for total 40 minutes in a week.  

In another event, North MCD Mayor Dr Sanjeev Nayyar said the Corporation tries its best to provide all possible facilities necessary for imparting quality education. He also said that along with education, clean toilets and other infrastructure for students in each municipal school is their first priority. 

EDMC Mayor Satya Sharma said that the East Corporation is working in the field of education to provide quality education to its students. She also said that teachers are entitled to channelise the energy of children for their betterment and for the country as a whole.
