Teacher arrested for molesting Class IX student

Police arrested a teacher on the charge of molesting a girl. On the basis of the complaints lodged by the girl’s family, Kolkata police arrested him on Monday night.

The girl student of accused teacher Anirban Dhar got a mental trauma and is under treatment now. However, police produced the teacher in Alipore court and he was remanded to judicial custody.

The father of the girl, who looked utterly shocked and traumatised with the incident, broke into the tears and said that the teacher had called up her daughter in his house. He locked the door when the girl entered in the room. To her shock, the girl asked her teacher that why he had locked the door? The teacher did not reply and switched off the lights.

“The teacher held my daughter close to him forcefully. I cannot say anything more,” the father said, braking into tears.

Police learnt that, the accused teacher was living with his mother and a maid servant in house at Survey Park. The girl was called up there to give extra tuition study. The girl initially did not want to go alone but the teacher insisted.

The girl, a resident of Garfa, is a student of Class IX. She was taking tuition there for a year. After the incident, the girl had gone to her family and broke down. She divulged the whole incident and the family members moved the matter to police station. Police took almost no time to arrest the accused teacher.

This incident is reminiscent of an almost similar incident in the city where, a teacher at a private school was arrested in August this year, for allegedly molesting around 20 students in his class over a period of time.
