Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Pal was remanded to three days Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody after being produced at the special CJM court in connection with the multi-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam on Saturday.

The CBI urged the court to take Pal in five days custody. The Court however granted the CBI three days custody.

It has been learnt that the CBI has booked Pal under Section 120 B, 406, 408,420, 456 of the IPC.

Pal’s counsel, Arun Acharya while talking to the media at the CBI office in Bhubaneswar said: “Pal has been made a victim under political pressure since he is a celebrity and a MP. Pal claimed himself innocent in the court.

It was learnt that the a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by DIG NK Singh, Bhubaneswar CBI SP Rajeev Ranjan and Investigating Officer (IO) will interrogate Pal to get more information on his connection with the ponzi firm.
