Actor Taapsee Pannu says she is overwhelmed with the appreciation the trailer of her film Pink has received. The trailer of Pink was launched on August 9 and it has already crossed six million views on YouTube.
“I am not in India right now to feel the buzz that the trailer has created but from what I get to know and see online, it seems we have struck all the right notes... The appreciation is overwhelming,” Taapsee said in a statement.
Pink revolves around three girls who were trapped in a criminal case. They are tried in court for an attempt to murder case and defaming some men. Helmed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the film has been produced by Piku, Madras Cafe and Vicky Donor fame director Shoojit Sarkar.
In the movie’s trailer, there is an element of enticing immediacy and topicality that the people and situations in the trailer of director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s Pink exude, that leaves the audience spellbound. The beauty of Pink is that it refuses to abide by the stereotypes of feminist filmmaking.
It won’t tick off all the boxes about cinema on sexual empowerment. It would rather create a whole new stimulating language on the complex relationship between a woman’s right over her body and the many devious and disgusting ways in which men violate that right. The crime thriller also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang and is scheduled to release on September 16.
