Also, they will have to install GPS in their vehicles by September. Adhikari said Supreme Court had instructed that speed governors are mandatory for commercial vehicles. Also, GPS should be installed.
The decision has been taken in view of the series of accidents involving pool cars that had taken place in the state in the past few weeks.
Recently the driver of a school bus was killed after the vehicle hit a pillar. In Burdwan some school children were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with another vehicle.
Adhikari said most of the pool cars drivers drive the vehicles fast particularly to ensure that the children reach the school on time. In doing so, they flout traffic rules.
The parents of children are absolutely in the dark over the safety and security of their children. Speed governor will help to control speed of the vehicles.
Installation of GPS will help the parents to track the vehicle in which their children were travelling. In case the vehicles meet with an accident the parents can rush to the spot.
He said stern action would be taken against the owners who would flout the instruction. Police teams who check the papers of vehicles would inspect to ensure that both the speed governor and GPS are installed in the car.
