Suspected Islamic State member remanded to 14-day CID custody

Two of his associates – Saddam Hussain alias Kalu and Sk Abasuddin alias Amin – were shown arrested on Wednesday afternoon following overnight interrogation. They were detained on Tuesday.

Musa was produced before the court after night-long interrogation by officers of CID and National Investigation Agency (NIA).During interrogation, the investigating officers came to know that Musa had links with top IS leaders in Syria for the past two to three years.

He also had connection with the leaders of the terror outfit from Bangladesh. He used to exchange information with the top leaders online. The investigating officers came to know that Musa used to change the user-id and password of his g-mail account quite often.

Thus, the investigating officers have decided to send the mobile phone of Musa for forensic test. The investigating officers have also come to know about the online chat-room through which he had established contact with the IS leaders.

It led to the suspicion of the investigating officers. After interrogating Musa, the officers felt that he had been successful in motivating some more youth to form a module.Investigating officers suspect that he had plans to involve more youth from the districts including Birbhum, Burdwan, Nadia and Malda.

Moreover, he had no plans to go to his house at Labhpur in Birbhum. Instead, he had plans to go to a hideout along with Kalu and Amin. The duo was waiting at Ahmedpur station to receive Musa.
His ulterior motive was to organise a terror similar type of attack in the state as it took place in Bangladesh.

A three-member team went to Bhawani Bhavan where they interrogated both Kalu and Amin. The investigating officers suspect that they used to handle the work of Musa when he used to stay in Tamil Nadu.

It is learnt that the interrogation of Kalu and Amin will continue overnight as the police feel that they can provide details of others if anyone more is involved with the terror activities or have been motivated to join the outfit.

Meanwhile, the police have picked up another youth from near the residence of Musa in Birbhum. Sources said that he will also be brought to Bhawani Bhavan for interrogation.
