Superintendent of SSKM Hospital transferred

In a reshuffle the medical superintendent of the SSKM Hospital, Dr Karobi Boral was transferred to the post of professor of Anatomy department of NRS Medical College and Hospital.

Dr Manimay Bandhyopadhyay – who was the present medical super of the NRS Medical College
and Hospital will become the new medical super of the SSKM.

Dr Hashi Dasgupta who was working as the head of the Anatomy department of the NRS Medical College and Hospital will replace Dr Bandhyopadhyay as the new medical super of the NRS Hospital.

It was learnt that Dr Boral has been transferred to the post of a professor. Many are saying that the transfer of Dr Boral was just a matter a time after the fire incident at the hospital.

Senior officials of the state health department became annoyed after Dr Boral had come out sharing her views in media.

Health department officials were not satisfied with the performances of Dr Boral.

They were not happy with how the things were handled after the fire incident. After carrying out an
investigation, the enquiry committee had found that there was negligence on the part of the hospital authorities.

It may be mentioned that a major fire broke out at the Ronald Ross building of the SSKM Hospital in November. No casualty had, however, taken place in the incident.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to the spot and reviewed the rescue operation. The Chief Minister also instructed the fire department to place two fire tenders at all the state-run hospitals as preventive measures.

She also ordered a probe into the incident. The fire department after carrying out an investigation said that fire was caused by a tower set up on the roof of the building.

The towers were constructed illegally flouting the norms.
