Superintendent of Social Welfare dept suspended

Delhi government on Tuesday placed under suspension the Superintendent of the city’s Social Welfare Department and referred the corruption case against him to the Anti-Corruption Branch for “criminal action”.

As part of its crackdown, the government has also put under suspension two officers of the Food and Supply Department on charges of “gross negligence” on their part, Secretary (Vigilance) Sukesh Jain said.

Jain said that in both the cases, preliminary enquiry was conducted after the government received complaints against them. “The Delhi Government has taken a serious view in the matter and the concerned Superintendent has been placed under suspension.”

“The matter has also been referred to the Anti-Corruption Branch for criminal action,” Jain said.
Similar action was taken against two officials of the Food and Supplies Department after charges of gross negligence was, prima- facie, established.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has recently asked five ministers, including his deputy Manish Sisodia, to submit action plans for uprooting “scourge of corruption” from their departments within one week, focusing specially on critical areas pointed out in the CMS-India Corruption Study.
