Students allege bias against Hindi

Students appearing for the entrance test for Delhi University’s PHD in Modern Indian Languages (MIL) on Monday alleged that the head of the department (HOD) of the MIL did not allow them to attempt the paper in the Hindi. Students alleged that the HOD had a bias towards the language.

Bindra (name changed), a student who wanted to give the paper in Hindi, said, ‘We were around 30 to 32 students in the examination hall when the Hindi medium students said they wanted to give the paper in Hindi.

The illogical denial of Marriaapan the HOD has put us in trouble and his behaviour showed bias towards the Hindi language.’
A DU professor said ‘This dictatorial attitude of the HOD has left the students in a dilemma.’The HOD could not be reached for a comment.
