The police said that Surekha, a student of Gyan Bharti School had gone to a coaching class in Jorabagan. He was a resident of Nimtalaghat Street.

The victim and the accused picked up a quarrel in the absence of the teacher.

They had heated exchange and in the melee Dutta reportedly punched on Mayank straight on his chest.

He fell on the ground unconscious and was taken to a nursing home where he was declared brought dead.

On being informed the police came and took statements of the students who were present at the coaching centre. Seeing trouble Dutta fled the place and is still absconding.

The police is investing into the cause that led to the scuffle between the two.

The police said Surekha was very good in his studies. A pall of gloom has descended in the area when the news of his death spread.

Local people went to the nursing home and then to the coaching centre and talked to the teachers.

Sriparna Sarkar, a psychologist said that restlessness among students had become rampant in the country.

“It is difficult to give a single reason that is responsible for this kind of behavior.

“But this is an undeniable fact that students are becoming restless and this is making them violent.

“Scuffle or quarrel between students is common but what prompted the accused to hit the victim so heavily that he died as a result is needed to be properly investigated.”
