A second year student of a private engineering college in Howrah received severe injuries on his stomach when beaten up mercilessly allegedly by seniors of his college for a ragging complaint.
Though police didn’t comment on the incident, sources said that three fourth year students and two second year students had passed some lewd comments at the victim, who is originally a resident of Gaya. The victim used to stay in a rented flat near the college while the rest of the students are the inmates of the hostel in the college. The victim had complaint to the college authorities alleging that he was being said such things by his seniors which can be done only with a mentality of ragging.

As alleged, the senior students were waiting outside the college for him because he used to go to have tea at a shop in the vicinity every day. They had started beating up the victim when he reached the place where they were waiting. They even pelted stones injuring another. The victim was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata.
